By 2050, Australian households could see urban farms in their backyards, if one Queensland woman has her way.Local residents will be able to purchase local produce at 'food hubs'Founder of Our Food System, Kylie Newberry, wants to see a network of farms and market gardens spread across private and public land throughout the suburbs.

"Our vision is to see an urban farm in every backyard that would spread across 190 suburbs of the Brisbane to begin with."The project plans to inspire cities across Australia to look at adopting the plan to put farming in the hands of neighbourhoods. "The idea is that the farmer is paid fairly for what they grow, and we might have urban beehives and possibly animals."A renewed interest in small acre farming by younger generations is also something Ms Newberry believed could be key for future food security.

"Young farmers are more commonplace, especially on the small space farming using rejuvenated practices.She said the project included enabling communities to obtain locally grow food easily.
