The chocolate fan spent £180 on the giant Lindt advent calendar at Costco but was surprised at the contents

A chocolate fan who splashed out £180 on a luxury advent calendar says she wants to cry herself to sleep after seeing what was inside. Shivani Khosla posted on TikTok after unboxing the contents of the Lindt giant calendar only to be disappointed by what she found.

She said she was going to go through the prices of everything inside the advent calendar so people could see what the contents actually cost if she had bought them individually. She said: "I have just paid money for cardboard basically." She was happy with one offering - a box of Nurox dark chocolates which she said she couldn't find in the UK which were nine euros which she wasn't sure of in pounds sterling. She said: "Fair enough, we've got some rare chocolate from a different country so I was not too minded about that one."

She said: "You wake up, it's Christmas Eve, you're very, very excited. You run downstairs 'I can't wait to open door number 24 in my Lindt £180 advent calendar from Costco so what could it be?" She said she expected the box to be bigger but it wasn't and turned out to contain a "giant but not that giant" £6 gold teddy bear in a jumper.

Others defended the company pointing out it had to pay for packaging, shipping and selling as well as making a profit. Answering Carlygeary's comment of "£80 for cardboard and foil,", Xided said: "They had to make all the cutouts, and whoever did that needs to get their pay, so that adds money. And shipping for something that big will cost them a bit. And then they have to pay for advertising.
