The government has come under additional fire for its response to the flood crisis after ADF personnel were filmed partaking in a photo shoot in Northern NSW.

Footage from Northern NSW, filmed by a local, has sparked deep anger among flood victims and contributed to growing fury at the government over what’s been described as lacklustre support.

“This is incredible. Unbelievable,” he said, telling the group, “well done fellas, you’re earning every penny”.He joked: “save the trailers everybody” before driving away. One explanation for the officers’ approach to the rubbish was far less sinister and suggested the trailer could not be towed, so the rubbish was moved to the kerb for collection.

He said the ADF had been in Lismore since February 27, with more than 600 personnel on the ground in northern NSW with further 656 to arrive on Tuesday. “That’s the Australian spirit. That’s what you and I would do for our neighbours, and that’s what people do in extremes,” Mr Dutton said.He added ADF personnel had been “embedded” into existing efforts from emergency services, SES personnel and council workers.

Instagram page The Pineapple Express, an Australian Veteran Community Organisation, has been striking back against tough criticism from flood-affected communities.
