Shocking footage has shown the moment a man allegedly stole a car with an infant still strapped to his baby capsule while the mother tried desperately to intervene.
A man has been charged with abduction after allegedly stealing a car with a baby still strapped into his seat in an event which sparked a city-wide search with"every available" police resource.
CCTV showed the baby boy's frantic mother run out of the store to try to intervene, briefly stepping in front of her car before moving away, as the man sped off. Police immediately sent out an alert for motorists in Adelaide to be on the lookout for the 2009 model Honda and to call authorities if they spotted the car.
After two agonising hours, police located the vehicle dumped around six kilometres away at Wilkinson Court in the suburb Enfield.The mother and her son were reunited at the scene. Footage showed her feeding him a bottle in the back of a police car.Police will allege the man had arrived in a Mazda dual cab ute stolen earlier in the morning and dumped it on Fourth Ave before he stole the woman's car and fled.
