Contact tracers have begun calling football fans who attended a Melbourne CBD Euro 2020 finals event, advising them and their household members to go into isolation.

Victorian authorities have issued an alert for all those who attended a Melbourne CBD Euro 2020 finals event on Monday to immediately get tested and isolate.

The Crafty Squire on Russell Street in Melbourne’s CBD had hosted football fans to watch the 2020 Euro finals between England and Italy. All those who attended the event in the early hours of Monday 12 July - between 3:00am and 8:15am - have now been classified as Tier 1 primary close contacts. "You now need to get tested, immediately quarantine and contact those who attended with you, advising them to do the same."The expanding list of at least 168 exposure sites generated some 10,000"primary close contacts" on Saturday.

The latest COVID-19 cases include at least two school students, and there are 14 cases linked to an"index case" - a man aged in his 60s - who attended last weekend's Geelong-Carlton AFL game at the MCG. The AFL confirmed on Saturday that players from several clubs had visited exposure sites in recent days and have since travelled to Queensland."What we've seen over the last 24 to 48 hours is a list of exposure sites that now include significant parts of regional Victoria - Phillip Island, the Barwon region, Bacchus Marsh - and the primary and secondary contacts that have spread further than that.
