Blake Ferguson claims the NRL should pay to have his nose fixed despite leaving the competition in 2021 and the current CBA only allowing players to receive financial support for surgeries within 12 months of retirement.

The former Kangaroo and NSW Blues representative played professionally for 15 years and claimed to have broken his nose over eight times leaving it severely disfigured.

“Surely I can be compensated for ruining my face. This wouldn’t have happened if I just played for your local footy team. You think this came from walking in the park on an afternoon.”The 32-year-old is not eligible to receive financial support from the NRL for surgeries associated with injuries suffered during a career despite playing 249 NRL games across four clubs.

“Regardless of how long you’re out of the game you should be compensated for your dedication,” South Sydney Rabbitohs star Latrell Mitchell said on Instagram Stories sharing Ferguson's post. Former players Sandor Earl, Andrew Fifita and current Kangaroos winger Josh Addo-Carr also reposted the Instagram story with messages of support.

“I’ve always heard from past players who said how important it was to get your body checked so you can get all the stuff you need.” “My question here, does the game owe Blake Ferguson or does Blake Ferguson owe the game? Where does it end?”
