Founded in 2017, the salon offers your standard fare—blowouts, updos and quick styles—but with a twist: All services are completely nontoxic, and the salon is accessible to everyone.
Batts, who previously worked as an executive at Viacom, echoed the importance of creating this inclusive community, adding that Detroit seemed like an ideal place to launch such a business. “There was an entrepreneurial spirit here that I hadn’t found while I was in New York,” she said.
