It’s the prize no teams wants to win, but the ‘ spoon bowl ’ will showcase more than just two struggling teams — it highlights outfits at opposite ends of their roster cycles .
The real disparity comes in the amount of young players in each squad. The Tigers have 13 players in their top 30 that are 22 years of age or younger. Tony Sukkar will become the newest debutant on Friday night, being named on the bench at only 20 years of age ahead of his promotion to the top 30 in 2025.
Ryles will welcome Zac Lomax and Iongi to Parramatta next year, while making moves to get Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Maika Sivo off the club’s books. Tigers skipper Api Koroisau was buzzing when asked about playing in front of a full house at Campbelltown Stadium and was also optimistic about seasons to come.“Sometimes you get here and there is nothing up for grabs but for us it is pretty important, we don’t want to come last. “Everyone remembers last. And we don’t want that. It’s a bit of piss-take, really. We didn’t expect to be last. I don’t think any team expects to be last.”
