A Melbourne court has heard the alleged incidents related to one teenage girl and took place in the south-east Melbourne suburb of Moorabbin in 1985.
Former St Kilda and Melbourne footballer Carl Ditterich has been ordered to stand trial charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl in the 1980s.
Mr Ditterich, 79, appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday where he pleaded not guilty to three counts of sexual assault and one count of gross indecency. Magistrate Stephen Ballek ordered Mr Ditterich to stand trial, finding the evidence from the victim's statements and diary entries was strong enough to support a possible conviction by a jury.
The court heard Mr Ditterich allegedly assaulted the teenager, who was under the age of 16, in August 1985.The Hall of Famer also earned a reputation as one of the game's hard men, facing the tribunal 19 times in his career.
