Former St Kilda player Eli Templeton’s playing days are over and now he’s taking legal action. Templeton, 28, suffered a sickening concussion injury in 2022 when he was a playing a one-off game for the Balwyn Football Club in the ENFL . Templeton — a rookie draft pick in 2014 who managed 14 games for the Saints before being delisted at the end of 2016 — was running at speed when he was bumped over the fence near a coaches’ dugout.
“By reason of his injuries, he will never again play AFL football for reward and additionally claims economic damage for this loss,” the documents claim. “Since the date of the injury, has experienced periods of unemployment due to injury.” Since his AFL days, Templeton had been playing in the VFL for Port Melbourne. He is a two-time best-and-fairest winner for the Borough. Templeton was on loan from Port for the one-off match at the local league because of a bye.
