A former Home and Away star who stomped on a woman’s head and then evaded police for days has been released on bail ahead of his sentencing hearing. Orpheus Pledger, 31, was brought from custody to Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning to be sentenced. But Magistrate Justin Foster adjourned the hearing to August, noting Corrections Victoria needed time to complete a more in-depth report on Pledger’s mental health and drug issues.
Pledger, who appeared on Neighbours in 2011 and on Home and Away between 2016 and 2019, only spoke to say he understood his conditions. He has spent 96 days in custody and on Monday pleaded guilty to repeatedly assaulting the woman, who can’t be identified for legal reasons. Shortly after midnight on March 1, Pledger kicked and punched the victim in the face after she raised concerns about his drug use and declining mental health. He then attacked the same woman about 1.
