Tobias Friedrich Moran, formerly known as Tobias Suckfuell, had been travelling around Australia with Ms Strobel when her body was found under palm fronds less than 100 metres from the Lismore caravan park she was last seen at in 2005.Strobels' father Gustl told German media the family was "totally surprised" by the development.Simone Strobel's body was found dumped under palm fronds after a night out in Lismore with her then-boyfriend and friends in 2005.
Moran is expected to be flown to Sydney on Wednesday before facing Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court the following day. Moran's lawyer Tony Elliott said his client had no previous known convictions and he was unaware of any other charges or bail proceedings.
