This has been welcomed by residents of the town

A former Long Eaton nightclub is to become flats. Erewash Borough Council has granted permission for what used to be called The Factory, in Clifford Street, to be turned into six flats.

Previously people shared their memories of the former nightclub and said it was ‘ buzzing’ and had ‘some right characters’. It is thought that it stopped trading in 2020 and has been vacant since.Terry Lewis, a retired army veteran, told Nottinghamshire Live that since The Factory has been vacant for a while, it is best for something to be done with it. The 74-year-old said: “I went years ago, it was alright.

The plans inculde five one-bed and one two-bed flats. Emma Hall, told Nottinghamshire Live that there is sadness in the area about the loss of the old nightclub. Another Long Eaton resident, who wished to remain anonymous, added: “I don’t even remember the last time it was open. I’m not surprised they’re turning it into flats to be honest.”
