Ernesto Ceraldi was today barred from ever having another job in policing because of his 'unlawful and immoral and reprehensible' actions
A former police officer from Darwen apologised to the woman he molested as he was banned from ever working in policing again.
The court heard the victim, from Rossendale, was throttled, punched and had her hair pulled during the attack. Ceraldi, of no fixed abode but who previously lived in Darwen, had gone back to her house after meeting her in a pub.
He told the hearing he had spoken Mr Ceraldi several times, mostly about administrative matters. Invited to make any final submissions, Sgt Lawrenson said that through him Mr Ceraldi 'expresses first and foremost remorse and sympathy to the victim for his actions'. Solicitor Gareth Madgwick, representing GMP, said the former officer had been convicted of assault and attempted rape at Preston Crown Court in May which he said represented a breach of conduct required of police officers.
