It was a sad day with the passing of former Labor leader and minister Simon Crean, says Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.
“As Opposition leader at the turn of the century, he did well prosecuting the Children Overboard scandal,” Mr Clennell said.
“He successfully prosecuted the scandal around then Governor-General Peter Hollingworth but his loss in the Cunningham by-election to the Greens pretty much saw him off. “He was not a popular Opposition leader, but he was successful at holding the blowtorch to a government.”
