Former Labor Minister Gary Johns says he is “deeply opposed” to having a group of people with “permanent regular access” to ministers inside and outside parliament.

“The Prime Minister wants to get this done one way or the other – the debate yesterday was about whether there’d be privileged access on the part of Aboriginal leaders to government and parliament,” Mr Johns told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “The Voice is all about giving privileged access to a sub-group of people – you and I get our vote once every three years, but an Aboriginal group called the Voice will have permanent regular access to ministers inside and outside the House and we are deeply opposed to that privilege.”
