Milton Orkopoulos walks out of Long Bay Correctional Centre after serving an 11 year sentence for child sex offences. Orkopoulos was seen hugging a man before getting into a waiting car, which 9NEWS understands his sister was in. He was the Aboriginal Affairs Minister when he was arrested in 2006 and was later convicted of 30 offences related to the supply of cannabis and heroin as well as the sexual and indecent assault of three male victims.In February this year he took an opioid used to treat pain because of a low mood.
Lawyers for the State raised concerns that, until relatively recently, that was how he was managing his emotions and stress.
