A former Labor party official charged with two child porn offences is facing a further 21 charges, Supreme Court hears | rachelclun
A former Labor party official charged with two child porn offences is facing a further 21 charges, the Supreme Court has heard.
His barrister Alex Radojev said Mr Hansen was then charged with a further 21 offences on March 4 while in custody."When those charges were laid our instruction was to withdraw the application to release," he said. He said charging Mr Hansen with 21 further offences days before his bail hearing would have the "obvious consequence" of not allowing the application to proceed. However, he added the crown appeared to have a strong case against Mr Hansen.Mr Hansen, a lawyer who is also fluent in Vietnamese, has been in custody since his October arrest on charges including possessing child abuse material and possess/control/produce/distribute/obtain child pornography.
A NSW Labor spokesman said the party only became aware of the specific charges against Mr Hansen after the suppression order was lifted and the party was contacted by the media.
