"Kew is a special place and I'll give it everything I've got to contribute to the election of a Liberal government in November 2022," she said.The Kew vacancy was created after outspoken frontbencher Tim Smith wasSome senior Liberals believe Mr Smith could quit parliament before the November election, forcing a by-election.
Ms Wilson had been the frontrunner but Mr Davis's attempt to move from the Upper House, where he was first elected in 1996, threatened this plan."The only way for the Liberal Party to wrest government from Labor is to have a capable, battle-toughened team to meet them head-on,'' he wrote.Some Liberals remain angry that Mr Davis ran and have questioned if his position as Upper House Leader is tenable."He should now seriously consider his position in the Upper House.
