Former lord mayor of Melbourne Robert Doyle has been stripped of his Order of Australia honour.The former lord mayor resigned from the role in 2018 after allegations of sexual harassment, which he deniedMr Doyle was made a Companion of the Order of Australia in 2017 for his work in local government and contribution to community organisations.

However, legislation states "the Governor-General may terminate an appointment, or cancel an award, if, in the opinion of the Governor-General, the holder of the appointment or award has behaved or acted in a manner that has brought disrepute on the Order", among other reasons. Mr Doyle resigned as lord mayor in 2018 after two women accused him of sexual harassment. He vigorously denied the allegations at the time.. It found his behaviour towards the two women, which included inappropriately placing his hand on one woman's breast and another's thigh, could constitute sexual harassment and gross misconduct.
