Garrett Wilson is the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, becoming the first Buckeye to win the award since Eddie George in 1996.

Wilson wins the award after a prolific rookie season in which he caught 83 passes for 1,103 yards – breaking franchise rookie records in both categories – and four touchdowns in his first season with the New York Jets, who selected him with the No. 10 overall pick in last year’s NFL draft.

He becomes the first former Ohio State player to win the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Award since Eddie George in 1996. Former Ohio State running back John Brockington also won the award in 1971. That said, he becomes the fifth Buckeye in the last seven years to win an AP NFL Rookie of the Year Award on either side of the ball. Ohio State had a run of four AP NFL Defensive Rookies of the Year in five years when Joey Bosa won the award in 2016, Marshon Lattimore won the award in 2017, Nick Bosa won the award in 2019 and Chase Young won the award in 2020.
