Kaleb Brown is staying in the Big Ten, transferring to Iowa after one year at Ohio State.

in the 2022 class, Brown was recruited by Iowa out of St. Rita High School but chose to become a Buckeye. After just one year at Ohio State in which he caught just one pass for five yards, however, Brown decided to head elsewhere in search of more playing time.

While he wasn’t projected to be on Ohio State’s two-deep this season, he’ll have an opportunity to make an immediate impact for the Hawkeyes, who have only four other wide receivers on scholarship. He’ll be going from an offense that has perennially been one of college football’s best to one of college football’s worst last season, when Iowa ranked second-to-last in the entire Football Bowl Subdivision with only 251.6 yards gained per game.

He’s the second Ohio State wide receiver to transfer to Iowa in a two-year span, joining former Buckeye walk-on Austin Kutscher. Among the four scholarship Buckeyes who entered the transfer portal during the post-spring window, Brown is the first one to find a new home. Former Ohio State wide receiver Caleb Burton, offensive lineman Ben Christman and kicker Jake Seibert have not yet announced new destinations.
