Sudan's former President has been sentence to two years in detention for corruption and illegally possessing foreign currency. Omar al-Bashir was overthrown by the rulers in April after widespread demonstrations - bringing an end to a three-decade rule.
Known for violently suppressing those who defied him - it marked the first time his citizens attempted to hold the 75-year-old to account. The International Criminal Court has also issued arrest warrants against him over war crimes and genocide in Sudan's Darfur region.
