The Strategic Impact Fund aims to show that impact investing - investing that aims to have a positive impact on society and nature - can generate financial returns too.

Jenna Palumbo spent more than a decade in the traditionally male-dominated world of investment banking and corporate finance before becoming the head of impact investing at Nicola and Andrew Forrest’s Minderoo Foundation about six months ago.

The Strategic Impact Fund’s goals are aligned with Minderoo’s but there is also the broader goal of demonstrating that impact investing - investing that aims to have a positive impact on society and nature rather than just screen out “bad” things such as tobacco and coal - can generate financial returns too.

Ms Forrest, described as the driving force behind the Fund, said the Fund wanted to help business be accountable by investing in sustainable ways to tackle long-standing social and environmental challenges, something which young people especially are increasingly demanding.
