Fort Bend ISD elections: Hanan, Rose-Gilliam and newcomer Jones win races
In Fort Bend ISD's May 6 election, Angie Hanan, left, Shirley Rose-Gilliam and newcomer Sonya Jones won seats on the school board.A veteran teacher defeated an incumbent to win a Fort Bend ISD trustee position in the May 6 election while two other incumbents on the board retained their seats against challengers.
Position 1 trustee Angie Hanan received 58.2 percent of the votes to defeat challenger Oscar Saenz, who is a principal at an engineering design firm, and Position 4 incumbent Shirley Rose-Gilliam won against consulting company founder Cheryl Anne Buford with 51.8 percent of the votes. "In addition, we must also work to ensure stakeholders feel valued and informed and to make policy and financial decisions that support the health, safety and success of FBISD," she said.
