Fort Worth school board voted to join lawsuit over changes to state grading system following North TX districts such as Dallas, Prosper, Red Oak
In a 2012 archive photo, a student takes a remedial math class at Haltom High School to study for the STAAR state standardized tests.Fort Worth ISD and more than 100 other Texas school districts have won an initial victory in the legal fight against the release of A-F accountability ratings for the 2022-23 school year, for which new criteria were being applied after standardized tests were taken.
“The Court is of the opinion that the plaintiffs and intervenors have met their burden to show their probable right of recovery on their claims against Commissioner Morath, in his official capacity, because conduct and/or threatened conduct is without legal authority…,” according to the ruling David Campbell, an attorney representing the school districts, said during a press conference Friday morning with superintendents and school officials that they are pleased with the ruling but not surprised by it.
