Battle royale shooter Fortnite has kicked off its latest Summer Escape event, however fans haven’t been too impressed with yet another seasonal event focused around challenges.“I miss when summer events had stuff outside of challenges”
and includes a meme comparing previous summer events to the latest one, claiming there were much more additions such as “limited time events, daily unvaults and summer map changes in almost every POI” as opposed to this year’s event which seems mostly focused on the challenges with minor cosmetic rewards.Tai3Eridani lamenting
“All I wanted was Surfboards and to paly Storm Chasers: Surfing LTM for one last time.” Many are also decrying the use of LTMs taken from the game’s Creative mode, rather than those made by Epic. “They just stopped doing seasonal events like they used to,”. “Official LTMs will always be better than Creative LTMs. Creative ones are the same shlock I could play in the discovery right now.”
Even those who’ve defended Epic in the past are having second thoughts. “It’s just so obvious that it’s not up to par anymore,”. “We saw that with Halloween and Christmas last year too. They care too much about Creative and letting everyone do the work for them.” It seems the community at large even outside of the Reddit may feel similar, as a poll by popular Fortnite Twitter account Shiina shows that 25.7% of their followers dislike the new event, compared to 20% who do like it and 54.
