Another four former residents of Ashley Youth Detention Centre in Tasmania's north are taking legal action against the Tasmanian government over allegations they were sexually and physically abused by guards while in the care of the facility.

Court documents show one child who was a detainee at the facility in 1996 was allegedly pinned down in his room and abused by a guard

"These four cases are further shocking examples of the alleged abuse at Ashley, of children who were vulnerable and in the care of the state," he said. The alleged historical abuse of the four young people happened when they were aged between 13 and 17 years.Court documents also show allegations another child was locked in a room that had no surveillance cameras and was known for isolating children.

She was allegedly sexually abused multiple times and was offered cigarettes in exchange for allowing sexual abuse to occur. His statement of claim alleges he was told by his abuser that he "was the only guard on night duty" in the lead-up to an alleged rape.The Commission of Inquiry will be examining the Ashley Youth Detention Centre in upcoming hearings.
