One Yorkshire village in each corner of the county have been named

A list, compiled by The Telegraph, has named four villages, in each of the four counties of Yorkshire, as some of the poshest in Britain. One village each has been named in West, South, East and North Yorkshire. East Yorkshire - Sutton Upon Derwent With a population of around 594 according to the 2011 census, Sutton Upon Derwent has been named as the poshest village in East Yorkshire. Right on the border with North Yorkshire, the village is centuries old, being mentioned in the Domesday Book in the 11th Century.North Yorkshire - Kirkby Overblow Found between Leeds and Harrogate, Kirkby Overblow is another small village, this time located on the border of West and North Yorkshire.

The first reference to the village can be found in the Domesday Book. Many villages in Yorkshire have Kirkby in the name, which refers to the presence of the local church.South Yorkshire - Cawthorne In South Yorkshire, the poshest village has been named as Cawthrone in Barnsley. Located near to the border with West Yorkshire, Cawthorne has a fairly large population of 1,151 people.

A historic village, it even features the Victoria Jubilee Museum, which was established to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1889.West Yorkshire - Scarcroft Scarcroft can be found in Leeds, around six miles out from the city centre towards Wetherby. The 2011 census reports a population of 1,194 people.

Its a well known place for having some of the most expensive streets in all of Leeds. According to The Telegraph, it has an average house price of £688,344.
