The Australian Federal Police says 14 people are now being investigated over Hezbollah flags being flown at a Melbourne protest in the wake of the listed terror group's leader being assassinated.

The AFP has told a senate estimates hearing after reviewing 90 hours of CCTV evidence, "14 individuals are under investigation for display of a prohibited terrorist organisation symbol in a public place".
"I can reveal we are also investigating whether some discourse relating to deceased terrorists, or events in the Middle East, has reached the threshold of urging violence against groups or advocating terrorism," Mr McCartney wrote.
