The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation is conducting research on waning COVID-19 immunity and 'the situation around the world' to determine whether to recommend a fourth shot.
Health Minister Greg Hunt was on Friday asked whether a second booster jab would be encouraged for older Australians as immunity from the third dose was likely to wane by mid-year.

Try 1 month free now> “The most likely direction, which is not in any way to pre-empt their decision but just to be completely transparent about the latest thinking, is they are potentially going to recommend a second booster, which would then be potentially the start of an annual program for people 65 and above.”
“And they'll look at the evidence around, again, the risk of severe disease and then other conditions which put people at risk of severe disease,” she said.
