Three years after announcing her departure from the airwaves, Kelly will be back for RN listeners.
Fran Kelly will return to Radio National to host a new daily 6pm program called The Radio National Hour, three years after announcing her high-profile departure from the airwaves.
The 6pm slot is a far friendlier time slot and sees the return of Kelly after her brief foray into late-night TV with the short-lived chat showOn Thursday morning, ABC Sydney’s Mornings presenter Sarah Macdonald revealed on air that her contract hadn’t been renewed.Author and broadcaster Sarah Macdonald.
“I am proud of what I’ve done. The ratings are up. I’ve broken lots of stories. Had the first interview with the new governor general. I got the premier of New South Wales to regularly take your calls. Led the election coverage, led the move to our Parramatta studios.” The announcements come ahead of the national broadcaster’s 2025 content lineup at its annual upfront presentation on Thursday afternoon. According to chief content officer Chris Oliver-Taylor, Kelly’s return will help arrest ABC Radio’s slide.
