The average number of COVID cases per day in France has fallen below 5,000 for the first time since August 2020 in signs that the nation is slowly overcoming the pandemic.
The embattled nation recorded 3,871 new infections on Friday along with a 69 further fatalities.
Five people have also died in retirement care homes over the past 3 days. France has recorded more than five-and-a-half million coronavirus cases and 109 thousand deaths since the start of the pandemic.
