The upcoming Frasier reboot at Paramount Plus will bring back several beloved characters, but is Niles one of them?
), isn’t part of the Paramount Plus revival. Niles is beloved for his witty humor and the contrast he provides to his more self-assured brother. Pierce portrayed the character in the American television sitcom that originally aired on NBC from 1993 to 2004. The actor received numerous accolades and awards for his efforts, including four Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor.
In the Paramount Plus show, Niles’ absence will be justified by Frasier’s return to Boston, where he’ll revisit unrealized dreams and reconnect with his fully-grown son, Freddy.David Hyde Pierce doesn’t want to reprise the character of Niles, Pierce confessed he didn’t feel a strong need to revisit Niles due to his immense respect for the original show and its characters. Regarding the Paramount Plus project, he acknowledged the potential for new stories.
