Fred Benson's Stranger Things death is disturbing.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Content Warning: The following article talks about trauma and contains discussions of teenage deaths.
Vecna is the most dangerous enemy to appear in Stranger Things and his abilities make him a potent threat. One of his most powerful tools is his curse. This is a psychological and physical attack where Vecna seeks out people who are harboring either guilt or psychological trauma that makes them susceptible to his sinister influence. Over the course of a day, his victims experience hallucinations pertaining to their trauma until Vecna fully ensnares them in a vision.
Fred Benson is terrified of being accused of something he believes about himself: that he is a murderer. There’s no evidence to suggest Fred was personally responsible for the car crash, but as the lone survivor, he blames himself for the other kid’s death. Deep down, Fred thinks of himself as a murderer and Vecna uses this self-doubt to frighten and trap him.
