Transit Systems bus drivers in region six, which covers the Inner West, Sydney CBD, Olympic Park, Strathfield and Rockdale services have turned off their Opal card machines today.Thousands of Sydney commuters travel for free on buses today.State Secretary of the Transport Workers Union Richard Olsen claims the government has ignored drivers' calls for equal pay and conditions in region six.
"At Transit Systems we have a situation that the NSW Government left us in, in 2018 when they privatised region six," Olsen said.READ MORE:Secretary of the Rail, Tram and Bus Union David Babineau said bus drivers shouldn't have to continuously take industrial action and the NSW government should meet their requests.
