Justina Cho, 28, a social worker who dreamed of starting her own fashion label, died on Sunday night surrounded by her family.
A second Australian has died a fortnight after the Seoul crowd crush, bringing the total death toll to at least 158 from the tragedy in the alleyways of Itaewon.
Cho was among a group of four Australians that went to Seoul’s vibrant Itaewon district to party after years of study, work and a pandemic that upended the best years of millions of young people in South Korea. Her friend, 23-year-old Sydney film producerof the crush as hundreds of thousands of people squeezed through alleyways barely four metres wide.
“She is the most resilient person I have ever known, even till her last breath she took care of our family and allowed us to say goodbye.”Julia said Cho was her “best friend and second mother” and said she would “always be remembered as the loving, caring, wise, creative, expressive, gentle, and free-spirited soul she is”.
