French First Lady Brigitte Macron has made an awkward royal faux pas while meeting with Queen Camilla in Normandy for a historic visit on Thursday.

France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron has raised eyebrows after accidentally making a major royal faux pas while meeting with Queen Camilla in Normandy for D-Day commemorations.

Ms Valentine is a favourite couturier of Camilla and earlier created her off-white wedding dress for her marriage to Charles in 2005. At first the Queen subtly dodged the move, but an oblivious Brigitte reached for her hand again and held it for a moment before suddenly letting go. Traditionally, royals do not hold hands with dignitaries during official visits in favour of a traditional handshake.
