The exiled Opposition Leader of Belarus has met with French President Emmanuel Macron as protests against leader Alexander Lukashenko continue.
Mr Macron briefly spoke to reporters following the meeting.
"He that time is very crucial because a lot of people are suffering because of this regime, too many people are in jails and he will do everything just to help to release all the political prisoners.Belarus opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya fled to Lithuania following Belarus' August 9 election, which opponents say was rigged.Last weekend, as many as 100,000 demonstrators marched across 10 cities calling for the resignation of Mr Lukashenko.
The latest demonstrations came just days after Mr Lukashenko was abruptly sworn in for the new presidential term."We are witnessing a power crisis in Belarus with an authoritarian administration that is not able to accept the logic of democracy," Mr Macron told le Journal du Dimanche.Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has been his country's ruler for 26 years.
