Centrist MPs and those from the far-right National Rally have both tabled motions of no confidence in the government. A successful no-confidence vote would bring down the government and kill the legislation but would need the support of a majority of the country's 577 lawmakers - an alliance that would need to span from the hard left to the far right.
The far-right's motion is not expected to succeed, but the vote by the centrist group is expected to be tighter.
