One of Sean Kingi's classmates says she 'weeps uncontrollably' when the memories of her friend's death come flooding back, and is terrified of a similar crime happening again if her killer, Barrie Watts, is freed on parole.

Barrie John Watts and his then wife, Valmae Beck, were jailed for life for the 1987 abduction, rape and murder of Sian Kingi at Noosa. Beck died in 2008.

A petition to keep Watts behind bars was launched by Mr Purdie with the Kingi family on June 6. It has reachedMr Purdie, the state MP whose electorate Sian Kingi's parents live in, will table the petition in state Parliament on Wednesday."That such an evil and cruel human being exists and could be free to walk our streets again is a terrifying thought for any parent — for our innocent Noosa community of 1987, for any sane-minded person," she wrote on May 29.
