After having a prominent role at the Sydney Olympics 20 years ago, a flagpole left to gather dust in an attic is now standing proudly in the New South Wales Riverina.
The pole used to hoist the Australian flag during the opening ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics has found a new home in a field on the New South Wales Riverina.Two Riverina farmers decide they want something "big" for their propertySince its starring role, the 21-metre flagpole had been storage in the attic of a Sydney-based flag-making company.
"My wife, she's come up with all sorts of ideas, and each time she says something, I think, 'Oh no, I don't know about doing that one'," Mr Sheldon said.Earlier this year the flagpole was agreed upon."I googled flagpole makers, got this company in Sydney and put in an enquiry."[The owner] rang back and left a message and said, 'Sheldon, I have the very thing that could interest you'.
