Two thieves who used a front-end loader in a ram raid during a months-long crime spree involving angle grinders and a hydraulic spreader have been sentenced in the County Court.
In sentencing the duo, Judge John Smallwood described their crimes as "calculated and premeditated"."It involves surveillance, it's prolonged. It's for high gain, or attempted high gain."
The newsagency in Clunes had to stay closed for almost a year while it was repaired, forcing locals to travel to Ballarat to do their banking. "It's difficult to conceive of a more significant series of burglaries for people of your backgrounds."
