A pet terrapin found dumped in freezing conditions in Glasgow has been put to sleep after suffering 'severe injuries' from a suspected animal attack.
The little turtle was covered in frost and had all four of its legs chewed in a suspected dog or wild animal attack. SSPCA officers collected the terrapin but due to the extent of its injuries, the difficult decision was made to put it to sleep. Terrapins are tropical animals that need a heat lamp and underwater heater with water at a warm enough temperature to keep them healthy. We advised the caller to put the terrapin in a warm bath until we arrived to try and get their body temperature up.
