Former treasurer Josh Frydenberg is hopeful there has been a turning point in the fight against antisemitism in Australia, but warned there is still more work to be done.
Australian leaders on Monday commemorated the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp which also marked International Holocaust Remembrance Day .
Speaking to Sky News on Monday night, Mr Frydenberg expressed hope that more people were standing up against antisemitism in Australia. Mr Frydenberg also cited a recent article by Indigenous leader and Professor Marcia Langton about Jewish attacks on Australian"Today was Marcia Langton, writing in The Australian, about the hatred that has been unleashed on university campuses by the weakness and the indifference of university leaders in our country," Mr Frydenberg said.
The former treasurer also emphasised the importance of greater education on the events of the Holocaust, in which six million Jews were murdered.
