Drive with a bowl of water in car this winter and other fuel saving tips
Fuel prices are adding further strain to household budgets as millions struggling with the cost of living crisis. Motoring experts have provided some tips for saving fuel this winter - including driving with a bowl of water on your passenger seat.
A tank of petrol or diesel isn't cheap and with food and heating prices soaring - not to mention the added cost of Christmas presents - every little saving helps at this time of year. Experts from ChooseMyCar.com have provided five simple tips - including one or two unusual hacks - to help reduce fuel costs, reports Yorkshire Live.
Of course, not driving at all is the best way to save on fuel, so you should consider cycling or walking if you can. For example, if your journey to work is five miles, the experts say you could save £416 per year. You could also boost your steps by around 10,000 a day, so opting to walk instead might save you money on a gym membership, too! But if you need to drive, here are some simple hacks to try.
"If you hit the accelerator too hard, you'll see water pour out the sides; likewise, if you're driving too fast and braking hard you'll notice water on the seat. The best bowls to use for this are small cereal bowls, with water about an inch from the top."This simple trick can help you save money . The experts say if you've parked facing the morning sun during winter, you’ll spend less time running the car to warm it up or to demist your windscreen.
