There could be an extra one in 2025
With suggestions that an extra bank holiday could be on the cards for 2025 and only two bank holidays left in 2024 it could be time to start planning your break from work.
Public holidays don't fall on the same days each year, as they're influenced by weekends and shifting annual occasions like Easter. There are reports that we could add to the eight we'll receive in 2025 with an extra bank holiday to mark the 80th anniversary of World War II. And the first bank holiday of 2025 isn't too far away, landing on January 1.
The next one will then take place just over three months later on Good Friday. While this year's Easter bank holidays were on March 29 and April 1, next year Easter will be slightly later, with Good Friday falling on April 18 and Easter Monday on April 21. May's two bank holidays will be on Monday, May 5 and Monday, May 26, while the summer bank holiday, which falls towards the end of the school summer holidays, will be on Monday, August 25. To round off the year, the Christmas bank holidays in 2025 will be on Thursday, December 25 and Friday, December 26.See our full list below.
