Here are a few fun facts to shed more light on the beloved parade, which runs April 29.The Fiesta Flambeau Parade as we know it first rolled out April 24, 1948, as an official, untitled Fiesta"night parade." According to then-parade chairman Reynolds Andricks, it was the first to be held after sundown in 20 years.

An April 25, 1948, edition of the San Antonio Light featuring coverage of the"first modern Fiesta illuminated parade," what would later be known as the Fiesta Flambeau Parade. This year marks the night parade's 75th anniversary.In 1948, you could catch the night parade in person for just 60 cents general admission and $1.10 for reserved seating .Andricks allowed floats from previous events to enter, provided that participants illuminated the float.

The untitled night parade was officially christened"Fiesta Flambeau" in October 1950. The first night parade as the Fiesta Flambeau was April 21, 1951. An Oct. 6, 1950, edition of the San Antonio Evening News announcing"Fiesta Flambeau" as the new name for the night parade, which was added to Fiesta in 1948. This year marks the parade's 75th anniversary.In 1951, Flambeau ticket prices ranged from $1 to $3. That may not sound like much, but when you factor inflation those tickets today would cost around $12 to $35.
