Chicago police Officer Aréanah Preston will be laid to rest Wednesday, more than a week after she was fatally shot outside her Avalon Park home during an attempted robbery.
A funeral will be held Wednesday morning at Trinity United Church of Christ, 400 W. 95th St., about four miles from Preston’s home, beginning at 10 a.m.
The service will be followed by a procession that will head: west on 95th Street to Halsted Street; south from Halsted to 98th Place; west on 98th Place to the I-57 South Expressway entrance; from I-57 South to the 119th Street exit; and west on 119th Street to Kedzie Avenue. A separate visitation was scheduled Tuesday afternoon at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd St. in Oak Lawn.
Preston, 24, had just finished her shift and was returning home while still in uniform at around 1:45 a.m. on May 6 when she was killed outside her home in the 8100 block of South Blackstone Avenue.Preston was set to graduate from Loyola University last weekend.
