Mourning a life cut short, about 100 people have farewelled student Md "Sifat" Isfaqur Rahman, 23, just days after he was allegedly murdered in his own home.Mosque as his coffin, which was draped in a green and gold blanket, was carried in."He came to us as a vibrant, smiling, excited young man, 23 years old. The world ahead of him. Now he leaves us in a box. It's just heartbreaking," Bowman said.

"I have been sleeping with a knife in my bedside table. I have been in Australia for nine years and I have never been thinking of doing something like that," Shayon, a member of the Bangladesh Student Association, said. The three other people who lived with Sifat are now staying at Charles Darwin University's student accommodation, scared to return to the house."They are traumatised. Sifat's body is set to be repatriated to Bangladesh in the coming days, with his aunt and uncle to make the journey home with him. A tribute concert in memory of the international student is being held at Charles Darwin University's Casuarina Campus on Saturday, with all funds raised to go to a Sifat Memorial Fund.
